Introduction:
Surah ikhlas is the most important surah in Quran. It is also known as declaration of God’s oneness. The meaning of Word Ikhlas is sincerity. It is 112th surah in Quran. It has four verses. Surah ikhlas focuses on unity and oneness of Allah.This surah was revealed during the Quraysh conflict with Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) when they challenged the distinguishing attributes of God worshipped by the prophet. It is Makki Surah with 47 letters, 4 verses, and 15 words.

Surah Ikhlas Arabic Text:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
English Translation:
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
1. Say, “He is God, the One.
2. God, the Absolute.
3. He begets not, nor was He begotten.
4. And there is nothing comparable to Him.”
Surah ikhlas Transliteration:
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
- Qul huwal laahu ahad
- Allah hus-samad
- Lam yalid wa lam yoolad
- Wa lam yakul-lahoo kufuwan ahad
Explanation:
1 – Qul huwa l-lahu ahad means say Allah is one.
2 – Allah is al-samad means perfect, complete,self sufficient.
3 – Lam yalid walam yulad means He neither begets, nor is born.
4 – Walam yaku n- laho kufu’an ahad means And there is known like unto Him.
Hadiths of surah Ikhlas:
According to hadiths this surah is an important part of the Quran.
Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) said,
“ Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) sent (army) under the command of a man who use to lead his companions in the prayers and would finish his recitation with, say, He is Allah, the one, when they returned(from bettle), they mentioned that the prophet. He (SAW) said, Ask him why he do so. They asked him and he said, I do so because it mentions the qualities of the beneficent and I love to recite it. The prophet (SAW) said, tell him ALLAH also loves him”.
Imam Malik ibn Anas recorded that Ubayd bin Hunain said that he heared Abu hurairah saying,
“I went out with Hazrat Muhammad (Saw) and he heared a man reciting Surah Ikhlas. So, the prophet said, It is obligatory. I asked, what is obligatory? And he (saw) replied, Paradise”.
